Honestly not a fan of this slapstick. It sounds very thin and it actually cracked in only 3 runs of sleigh ride. If you need cheap and don't really care about how it sounds, then by all means you can get this. It's just not the right fit for me.

This product is a wonderful value for the low cost and amount of money spent. A very heavy processed wood is used to avoid the traditional stress cracks that occur with several slap sticks on the market. The sound is a superior match to any high end slap stick and I highly recommend it for moderate to heavy orchestral, concert band, or percussion ensemble applications.

Easy to use, and hits at exactly the right time. The ones based on springs are much harder to get to "speak" on time. Used it for a joke at rehearsal for Peter and the Wolf. First - duck call. Then "snap". Then, narrator "tastes like chicken!" Whole story in three quick sounds. Also worked well in Chin's Senza con Forza. Precise timing is everything, and this one can do loud and proud exactly at the right time. Did I mention "right time?"

Thank you for a wonderful instrument my son used in his high school performances of Sleigh Ride. He said it was a little loud at first when using it, but when it came time for the concert, it was perfect. His band director was thrilled to have a new one to replace their splintered and split one. Thank you!
