Rivera-Three Marimbas (SP)-3M - Product Information
Three Marimbas by Luis Rivera combines the defining features of the Rivera's two favorite composers, Steve Reich and Philip Glass. There are three large sections in this work, the first of which utilizes Glass's additive process on the composite rhythm of an eighth note and two sixteenth notes ("1 and a"). The second utilizes a modified, block-additive process commonly found in Reich's chamber works. The final section uses two different ways of the phasing process of Reich. Scored for three 4.3 octave marimbas with each player holding two mallets. Duration: 12'00".
