Trevino-3 Riffs (SP)-6T3VC - Product Information
3 Riffs by Ivan Trevino was written for timpanist Charles Ross and the Brevard Music Center. The piece is in three movements: Grunge Riff, Indie Riff, and Rock Riff, and is scored for timpani (six drums) and cello trio.
From the composer, "Charles asked me to compose a piece int eh vein of Break of Reality, a cello rock band I regularly travel and perform with. With that in mind, I decided to take a rock musician's approach to the piece and used an electric guitar as my lone composition tool. Rather than having an elaborate composition plan, I decided to "riff out", creating simple riffs inspired by rock bands I like, such as Tool, Bon Iver, and Nirvana to name a few. I took my three favorite riffs and developed movements based on each one."
Scored for six drums; 32, 29, 26, 23, 20, piccolo. Drum muffles highly recommended.
