I really like the clear tones of the chimes and the ability to mute with the bar. The carrying case is an added bonus.
Description
The TreeWorks TRE630 is a new professional single-row Concert Chime with attached damper for use in all situations. Swing the damper arm out of the way for live performances where your sound requires greater strength and resonance. Swing the arm against the bars to silence the chimes quickly. The bars are TreeWorks' chime specific aluminum/titanium alloy. The bars are polished and T-6 tempered for brilliant tone. Each instrument is individually hand-tied with 50-pound braided CordLoc™. No plastic ties are used. The mantle is hand-finished Tennessee White Ash. The package also includes the TR51 hard-sided gig bag.
The TreeWorks Hard-sided Gig Bag Chime Case has thick, 1/2 inch, foam on both sides plus the added protection of hard ABS plastic. There is a giant #10 zipper on three sides. Inside there are two straps that secure the chime by the Mantle allowing the chimes to hang naturally when the case is carried by the molded handle. Inside usable space, 25 1/2" x 9 1/2".

I've owned my Tre630 for 7 years, and the price has only gone up $10. The bars sound great, the damper is, in my opinion, an absolute must have, and the case is useful. Speaking of the damper, if you're used to a Spectrasound damper that doesn't respond well to tightening, this damper is nothing like that. It's very easy to tighten, and doing so allows you to position the damper in a way that modifies sustain. Leaving it far off the bars makes it as if the damper isn't there, letting the bars sustain freely. Positioning the dampener just millimeters behind the bars makes the instrument behave like a good studio crash cymbal, vibrating freely for just long enough to speak in full voice before ducking below the ensemble as the bars are quieted. Putting the dampener right against the bars means only the initial articulation comes through with no sustain. Very useful. There's not much else to say. If you are in the market for one mark tree, you can't go wrong here.

TreeWorks is one of those companies that does one thing only, but they do it exceptionally well. Any set of their chimes sounds better than anyone else's, and this is the best deal you're going to find to get this level of quality and the accessories that come with it. The case is sturdy and holds the chimes securely. The damper allows the chimes to ring out, but quiets them quickly so you don't have to use your forearm. The chimes themselves sound spectacular. Can't go wrong. Do note that unless you don't mind occupying a cymbal stand, you'll need the Tre52 bracket.

I am so content with this instrument!! I am playing percussion in Jane Eyre the musical right now and it is the perfect fit! Not too small and not too big. Very versatile and just wonderful sounds.

This is a very nice set that includes almost everything you will need. These wind chimes have a lovely ethereal quality - Just what the composer had in mind when specifying wind chimes. You will probably also need a mounting clamp if you buy this set. Nice case, nice damper. Excellent sound.
