Good mallets for a beginner but once you get some what serious about playing mallets these are junk. They are very heavy and have a terrible sound on a marimba. Good for junk mallets.
These mallets are extremely good, especially for the money! Very versatile for ensemble, solo and concert settings (not to mention their intended frontline use). I've used these for many ensemble marimba pieces (Marimba Spiritual, Light as a Feather, Dream of the Cherry Blossoms). I've had them for over 2.5 years, practicing hours daily, and the yarn is still wrapped tight, and I've only broken one shaft from neglect. Exceptional mallets.
These are great for any-use mallets! If you want to save money and not have to buy a bunch of different pairs for different uses (Low-end marimba, xylo, vibes, cymbal etc.) go with these. The best blend between hard and soft mallets!
