The Intermediate Yamaha 6118 1.5 Octave Chimes offer a design that features playability and rich musical tones. With advances in acoustical analytics Yamaha has been able to create a chime tube that delivers unprecedented tones with rich sustain like no other Yamaha chime. A two-piece hanger beam and rest improve sound quality and playability, while the wire suspension system ensures rock-solid stability for the widest possible range of playing styles.
A visual design has be used that gives a nod to the elegance of Yamaha Concert Grand Pianos. The height of the chimes has been lowered by 10cm from 7118 models allowing for players of smaller stature to perform with comfort. The front-to-back motion of the chime tubes notably improves damping response. It is easier to stop the extended sustain of the redesigned chime tubes at the most musically appropriate time.
