I admit it, I haven't purchased this product yet. It doesn't matter. This is a simple, elegant, and inexpensive solution that drummers want, at least judging from all the online discussions in regard to turning cymbal stands into microphone stands. I do own a similar one-piece machined adapter that goes from 8M to 1/4" 20 thread, but 8M to 5/8" 27 thread is what most drummers want, I expect. (1/4" to 5/8" adapters always seem to disappear or be stuck in the last mic clip you used.) Also, the one-piece solution eliminates the product failures (breakage) that seems to plague the Gibraltar and Meinl cymbal stand to microphone adapters made with plastic components. I was lamenting the lack of a locking nut, but then I realized your cymbal stand already has one. If you put your wing nut on upside down first, you can use it to lock the adapter in place. Since locking nuts seem to run about $2 apiece, it's a good decision not to drive up the price of this product by 66% with something that is not needed.
