M-Tech Marimbas by Malletech deliver a premium orchestral quality sound and classy design at a favorable price point. This 5.0 octave instrument features padouk bars rivaling rosewood in warmth and depth of sound. The frame marries form and function with its beautiful finished wood design, easy height adjustability and durability. Malletech fixed tuning resonators project the natural robust sound of the Padouk.

  • Height: with height-adjustment fully retracted - 34.5" (floor to accidental bars), can safely extend to 39" (floor to accidentals) You may be able to get another inch past that, but stability of instrument could be compromised
  • Width: high endboard - 16", low endboard - 42"
  • Length: 102"
  • Bars: 3" wide (C1) to 1.5" wide (C6)
  • Low Resonators: 3" diameter
  • Tunable Resonators on first 10 notes (C1-A1). fixed resonators start on A#1

This is a great budget marimba! I played marimba in high school, graduated and hadn't touched one in over 4 years. I honestly thought I would never be able to afford a marimba anytime soon, but when I came across this one I had to jump on the opportunity. I have had it for a little over a month now and I honestly love it so much. It sounds so good and projects so well. This padouk wood sounds so good and compared to rosewood, you can not tell the difference! It took about 3 weeks to get to me, which was a lot faster than I expected. It came perfectly fine, and the assembly was fairly quick and easy. The only problem I had was that one of sides won't height-adjust but that's okay because I don't need it any higher than it already is. Overall, this is a great marimba for the price and I would highly recommend it!

What can one say about the new M Tech 5.0 Marimba but, WOW! I've owned many upper echelon marimbas with a rosewood keyboard and clearly without a doubt, the new M Tech (made of Paduch) rivals any one of these I've ever owned. The superlative tone quality is everything that Leigh Stevens advertised relative to pitch accuracy and tone duration, which is in complete contrast to many of the aforementioned American and Japanese manufacturers. The resonators are the came as those found on some of the more expensive Malletechs and feature tun-able low end pipes configured to the currently popular contemporary design of facing inward, which renders a very appealing aesthetic look to the instrument as a whole. The frame is of sturdy steel construction and most assuredly would be able to withstand the rigors of daily movement from the stage to a rehearsal environment. Lastly, the Malletech Company should be lauded and hailed for producing an exemplary material alternative in order to preserve the worlds limited rosewood supply. In addition, with such a quality 5.0 now on the market; every secondary percussion student in the U.S. and abroad who will eventually pursue a university degree can now have the opportunity to escalate and augment their musical repertoire on such a fine instrument. If you've ever wanted a 5.0 marimba, but just can't afford the usual $10,000 to $12,000.00 price tag; here is your alternative source. Go to YOU TUBE and view, M Tech 4.3 or 5.0 marimba and prepare to be impressed! YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID!!!!!! Jim Whitfill
