My son had been drumming on every surface in the house for about a year, the kitchen table, the back of the couch, my good pots and pans. His birthday was coming up and I finally just caved. Three kids, small house, so an regular drum set was a hard no from my husband the second I brought it up. After way too many late nights down the rabbit hole of electronic drum set reviews, I landed on this Pearl eRoadshow and crossed my fingers. I'm not super handy and I was dreading it, but it actually wasn't bad at all. The wires are labeled, which sounds like a small thing but honestly saved me. We got it together in about an hour and he was playing that same night. On his birthday. I'm counting that as a personal victory. The mesh pads are what sold me when I was researching it. He wails on that thing and I can barely hear it from the hallway. We've had him play with his little siblings are in bed and it's a total non-issue. And the sounds through the headphones are actually really good. Not that hollow, fake drum machine sound, more like the real thing. It comes with everything, the seat, sticks, headphones, all of it. There's even a card for free lessons. He's been working through those on his own, which I did not expect. He's a small 10-year-old and the kit is sized well for him. It's not taking over his whole room, which is a miracle given how much stuff three kids accumulate. I looked at cheaper kits but I'm glad I spent a little more on Pearl. No regrets.
