Poor Durability

Overall, I really have enjoyed these sticks. I will occasionally receive non pitch matched/weight matched sticks from Steve Weiss, but all of the pairs of these that I received were fairly light. I ordered them for my drum line as I thought the weight might be easier on younger hands and when I tell you that every pair ordered ended up dead/broken, I mean exactly that. These sticks broke in the same spot (halfway down the taper) with all 7 pairs my snares had. I'm disappointed as they are the same price as beasts and I wish we would have went for them! Maybe we got a bad quality batch, but I wish they were more durable than they are.

The sticks themselves are generally a
bit thicker than I'm used to, and they are also more back weighted. Overall great pair of sticks, Steve Weiss pretty consistently delivers nice dense and heavy sticks, so it's worth it to pay extra for the shipping.
Great sticks and great place to buy them from.

The Vic Firth MJs feel great in the hands, they make really cool ping shot and full shot sounds on a drum, and Steve Weiss is a fantastic place to buy them from.
Switch to these sticks!

I have have been using Innovative Percussion for my drumline program for the past 4 years, generally going with McIntosh snare sticks, Rennick tenor sticks, and this past season the Brett Kuhn snare stick. However, I personally always ordered myself a pair of Mike Jacksons because I love the feel of the stick on the drums, as well as the articulation at every dynamic, and the strength of the stick using them as click sticks. I got the approval to get a new contract with Vic Firth for my students, and this is the stick I will be sticking with permanently for our program. Get yourself a medium weight to heavy weighted pair, and you are set!

I'm a tech for a indoor group and I'm having my quads use these. They have great sound quality and good for a articulate book.
Overall-highly recommended for indoor quad players

Being a battery technician I really needed a pair of sticks that was well rounded for playing on both tenors and snare drum. This pair is the perfect match for both drums And has held up throw clicking and playing for a couple weeks already and they are still live. Thanks Mike Jackson

Fast delivery. Great sticks. One of the best in my opinion. They have a really good feel from the middle to the top end of heights, but the low end doesn't have the best feel. I've been ordering these sticks from Steve Weiss for sometime, and if all my pairs weren't really light I would give 5 stars.

The college drumline I marched with in the late '90s used Regal tip 3S sticks, which have been discontinued for some time now. I've been searching for something comparable, and I think these are the fix! While slightly longer (0.2") and a little thicker, they have the long taper and oval shaped bead I was looking for. Just like the RT 3S, they're not so great straight out of the box, but after a round of tape, they feel really nice and bouncy!

I've used Vic Firth marching sticks for a long time, but I only recently discovered the Mike Jacksons. These are the best feeling sticks I have ever played with. People can talk all they want about the taper, the size of the bead, etc. But this stick is by far the best feeling and the most fun to use.

I ordered two pairs. 1 pair was okay. Slightly heavy but still pretty low pitched. The other pair was awful. Light and low pitched. The stick is great, but the selection of sticks being given to customers is sub-par.

my dad ordered me 2 pairs of these and they came in 2 days. the sticks perform great. awesome weight, feels great in your hands, plays through to the snares, great reverse taper, very nice sounding rimshots. regular shots sound really strong and nice, and pings sound great too. would recommend to any line.

Oof, the weight on these things just ain't right. I was looking forward to the pronunciation of the middle of the stick (as the VF video says, it tapers at the head AND the butt ("long reverse taper") but, if the taper is there on the butt, it is pretty much impossible to see (especially once it's taped up). Jackson describes the stick's greatest weight should be 3/4 up the stick, which, when combined with a reverse taper, could make for some pretty beefy power playing once you get the mass swinging.
However, you can feel that the weight of the stick is unfortunately right where your palm is. So uncomfortable. No sound, and no power. I've heard people say its good for fast passages and doubles but I have a hard time keeping control with a light, oddly-weighted stick.
The bead is interesting and it takes the collar concept from Innovative Percussion's Jim Casella model for... what, rebound control? I think the excuse this time is 'ping shot accessibility'. This stick's bead is much larger and rounder than the IP JCs. Think "Colin McNutts with beef".
Would not use in a line, will experiment with them further but I think this is an interesting concept that doesn't translate well.
Great!

This stick is a great stick with perfect length and perfect width. It feels great on your hands and produces great sound.
