Sea Refractions is a great choice for the serious student beginning to learning four mallets on marimba . Prior to beginning this piece, they must generally learn and practice rolling with dynamics and independent rotation of mallets for arpeggios. The piece is repetitive enough learn quickly and very musical tonally and structurally.

It is a perfect piece for high school freshmens, the only problem I've came across upon was there was a typo at measure 33. Instead of an F it's a E.
