The best thing about it is that it's pre-internet essence. It never will distract you with notifications, or messages, of any sort. That being said, it's greatest weakness is its lack of cat videos.
Expensive but worth it

The talk feature is the best. It counts out the rhythm using words and counting sylables. Worth it!
Overrated and WAY overpriced

This metronome does everything you could want it to, and more. Except operate on battery power. My DB-90, and those of at least two other people I have spoken with, have had the battery connector completely fall apart with just normal (not abusive) use. Now I can only use it when tethered to its wall plug. Instead buy the little blue KORG metronome. It does everything you need (but without the features you won't use on the DB-90) for a fraction of the cost, and it works on batteries and lasts a long time. Or, if you need the nifty programmable features for time signature changes and tempo changes and so on, get the Tama Rhythm Watch, which is more durable and has better sounds. Yamaha used to make a metronome in this class, and it was the best. Sadly, Yamaha always discontinues its best products.
Industry Standard

This is the standard to which most percussionists compare other metronomes, and for good reason, and if this were ten years ago, I'd highly recommend buying this. It's sturdy, versatile, and, most importantly, it's loud. All this said, you can find smartphone apps that do more for less than five bucks (I use Frozen Ape's Tempo Advance, it's actually way better). If you do decide to buy this, though, I'd recommend buying the AC adapter, this thing burns through batteries like no one's business.

this a great meteronome for a teacher, or band director... my school uses one during practice and it is awesome... only complaint is price, so if your getting this just to practice with at home i recommend the db-30 or db-60
GREAT, but expensive

The Boss DB-90 is a great tool to use for yourself or the students you teach. The only two drawbacks to this piece of equipment is that it will drain your 9 volt batteries VERY quickly. I suppose a quick fix is to buy the A/C adapter if you are inside near an outlet. For you drumline instructors that plug your metronome into a speaker outside, this may not be for you unless you have a budgett to buy batteries every week. The other drawback is the price.
