Bought it for Robert Wendel's "Carobbean Sleigh Ride", which calls for Guira, not Guiro. It made the required sounds, and was heard easily over full orchestra. It seems unbreakable, and is capable of many other sounds beyond the metallic rasp called for in that piece. If you need this sound, this is the right tool for the job.
