Matt Nolan Nigel Shipway Signature Triangles - Product Information

The Matt Nolan Nigel Shipway Signature triangle range are curved sided orchestral triangles in a carefully selected brass alloy. These triangles are especially good for piano and pianissimo playing (single-handed rolls in particular). The curved shape gives a much softer, complex and diffuse sound than straight sided. These triangles are made one at a time, individually hand curved, hand-hammered, hand bent, and heat treated.

Available in light weight in sizes 5″ to 9″ and in medium weight in sizes 7″ to 10″. Other sizes and weights available by special order. Also available in 7″ and above in high carbon steel for a higher pitched and harder sound.

Comments:

This triangle responds exactly the way Matt says it does. It has a light, shimmering sound with very complex overtones, which is just what I wanted. It won't work as a Mahler clanger, but it isn't supposed to. As with any triangle you have to 'find your spot.' But even if you don't search for your spot, the triangle still sounds gorgeous. That said, every one of Matts' triangles is different from every other one and his YouTube demonstrations give a very accurate example of what each model, size and weight sounds like, EVEN THOUGH every single triangle of the same model will be ever so slightly different from every other one. So I highly suggest you watch/listen to them. I bought three- this one, 9" heavy Infinitri and 7" medium Infinitri.
