Grover Roll Ring

Comments:

Very creative product. Looking forward to hearing it on a recording. Takes a bit of time to find the best position for executing a roll and the right amount of pressure. Good job. Grover!

Works for the most part.

Comments:

It does the job fairly well, although the texture of the sand paper is hard on your fingertips after a while. It also seems that mine has came in a tad too big for my 10" SX tambourine, so beware of that.

Works Very Well

Comments:

I don't spend my practice time perfecting tambourine thumb rolls or getting the perfect amount of bees wax on my tambourine heads. I own 4 tambourines from different manufacturers. This ring roll works very well. Easy to control thumb rolls at various dynamic levels. No thumb licking needed. It works every time and since I have them on all my tambourines there is a consistency of technique. Several of my fellow percussionists have ordered them for their tambourines to make life easier.

:(

Comments:

It came free with my new 10" Grover T2/BC tambourine and I put it on just to try. I decided I didn't want to use it just as a personal preference thing, but when I the sticker off, it took a little bit off of the surface of the head in little patches. Granted it did do what it was supposed to fantastically but still, now my brand new head has tiny frayed patches and I die a little bit inside every time I look at it :'( no bueno

doesn't stay stuck

Comments:

When it stays on, it works great. My thumb rolls are much more consistent than with beeswax, and it also helps deaden the head noise, which is an added bonus. Unfortunately, it has somewhat of a cone shape rather than being flat, and it will not stay stuck to my tambourine no matter how much I press it down. It starts to come unstuck within minutes of putting it on. I can't even get through a single excerpt before it starts to come unstuck, and of course, if it isn't stuck on, it isn't helping me with my thumb rolls. If I could find an adhesive to fasten it on without damaging the head of my tambourine, I'd use that.

Grover Roll Ring

Comments:

This is a welcome and indispensable new tool for percussionists. For school use, it is much more sanitary than the usual "wet the thumb" technique. The natural muffle helps promote the desired sound of the jingles. Very practical and very reasonably priced. Congratulations to Grover Pro for another innovative sound idea! Bob

roll ring

Comments:

This roll ring works great for a dense thumb/finger roll. I like the consistency of the sandpaper more than having the occasional "slick spot" in my beeswax. Also, it dampens the head for more jingle sound. It works well for an educational setting where its use is far more sanitary than having multiple students lick their thumbs before playing thumb rolls. This is a classic idea made convenient.

Great Product!

Comments:

After watching the video I had to try this. I find this MUCH EASIER to use than beeswax. I LOVE the ability to attach and remove as needed. I did try making my own once and I ruined my tambourine head (and it was permanent). For my $11 one of the BEST investments in gear I've made in a LONG time!

Roll Ring

Comments:

I've tried this product and I like it. It is, as they say, super easy to take off to place on another instrument, but it definitely stays put once it's on. I make a lot of my own stuff and could go to the store and get some sandpaper, BUT this definitely saves the time of doing that as well as finding a rubber cement or glue that will be safe on the head. In this case, $11 saves time and the headache of getting supplies and dealing with getting it on the instrument. I'd rather spend the hour of my day practicing or making something that's more expensive than $11. Also, I can take it off at anytime if I decide I don't need or want it there without having to worry about remnants from glue and paper.

go for it if you've got plenty of $

Comments:

It's nice that it's cut to size, that it's self adhesive, and that you can take it on an off...but it's just sandpaper. Also the grit is way too coarse for me. I felt like half my thumb was left on it after a few minutes. If you've got tons of cash, go for it. Otherwise just go to the hardware store.

grover roll ring

Comments:

Why buy this when you can just as easily buy some ultra fine sand paper that costs less and you get more of it. $11 for a strip of sand paper?!?!?! Don't be a sucker!
