Contrary to the description, these do not come with the brass ring, WHICH IS GOOD!!! The other innovative bass drum mallets are super heavy because of it. While it does get you a good fundamental, you need a sizable drum that can handle it. Anyway, I like these, they are light and easy to play with. I think if they were a little bit softer they would be perfect, but you are able to play some articulate passaged with them if needed. They also work well for small gong work.
