Great for ghost notes!

I tried this stick out to see how it would handle ghost notes in various genres (think John Bonham, Jeff Porcaro, Bernard Purdie, and half-time shuffles) and was pleasantly surprised. First, the round, beaded tip delivers nice clarity on the hi hat and ride. Secondly, the weight and dimensions of the stick clearly help with rebound control needed to keep stick height down on ghost notes, especially those pesky ghost notes immediately after accents. My only complaint is that the workmanship is not as refined as a Vic Firth or Promark stick. Right out of the box, the tips as well as the body of the sticks are rough and grainy. At spots, the tips look chipped. As I use low volume heads to practice, it makes me a bit nervous in regards to damaging those heads. In closing, while I wish more care was taken with the sanding and finishing process, the overall performance of the stick is very good. After about 20 hours of practice with my original pair, the roughness of the tip has disappeared, along with some of the roundness. It certainly is not a very durable stick, compared to other brands.
