Great line of timpani mallets

Comments:

I bought a set of CT mallets (2,4,6) about 2 years ago. I've tried other beginner timpani mallets (such as VF's T1) and no set has come close to the value that the CT line has to offer. Each mallet is light enough to offer complete control & the center of mass is far enough forward to maintain sound quality despite the low weight. The CT6 in particular is a very nice felt mallet. It offers a crisp articulation that speaks at softer volumes, but doesn't become dry or punchy at louder volumes. I've used this line exclusively for Pines of Rome, Dvorak's 8th symphony, Appalachian Springs, and several other pieces of repertoire and recommend them without reservations.

Dissatisfaction

Comments:

IP did really bring me down with this pair. I ordered a three pair set (CT4,5,6) and this was the only defected one. The biggest upset were the heads - they were of different sizes and one head was softer than the other! So double check before you deal with IP. As a substitution I use Mike Balter T0 which is just a great hard pair.
