Description
24 Caprices, Op.1 by Niccolo Paganini transcribed for 4.5 octave (low F) marimba by Nathan Daughtrey. Paganini's caprices are among the most demanding in the solo violin repertoire. Each caprice highlights a particular violin technique, such as cross-string arpeggios and whirlwind scales and arpeggios. The three selections used in this transcription translate very well to marimba. This piece showcases many virtuosic four mallet techniques found in contemporary marimba literature, such as close interval sticking and arpeggios and scales that require all four mallets. A recording of this piece is available on Nathan Daughtrey's CD, "Spiral Passages".
