Solid product, adequate but not great for chimes

These hooks are a great size and worked perfectly with the Steve Weiss mounting system. I think these would work great for gongs etc. I set them up (with the rest of the SW mounting system and a cymbal stand) for tubular chimes when I just need a few notes, and they certainly hold the chimes, but there are a few playing issues. If you hang a chime on one hook only, the chime cords touch the end of the tube, dampening the sound slightly. If you use two hooks for one chime note, you get full resonance, but the hooks are in the air space above the chime, and you have to be careful to strike straight on rather than from an angle or above, or your hammer can hit the hook. And you always need to use hands to dampen. Certainly still playable with perfect technique and care, and much less expensive than the closest alternative. I would love it if Steve Weiss designed a chime-specific mounting component, like chime racks have, to go with their mounting system. Maybe another set of five holes down below so the chimes don't swing around, which was another small issue when using on a gig when last minute violinists needed to get through the section. Overall, thanks for creating a useful product for the working percussionist.
