The Acme #12 Bosun's Whistle is an industry standard. Somewhat more robust than its nearest competitor, Rothco. The Acme I received did require tuning to sound well in both registers. Once tuned it is loud and clear. A fun addition to life at our sailing club.

I previously ordered a Bosun's (Boatswain's) whistle from an "authentic nautical supply" store - paid $10 more, but couldn't get the right response. Watched youTube "how to" videos, and just about gave up, then noticed it had a small flaw. So I gave this whistle from Steve Weiss a try. Perfect - well made because it's easy to get the various pitches/effects immediately with this whistle. It's the one you should buy if you need nautical whistle effects...take it from someone who knows, for sure, you can't make an inferior whistle play correctly.
