Perfect length for my Adams Soloist marimba. The string has the plastic "shoe lace" ends but, I still had to get a lighter to seal the ends from time to time. Which isn't a bad thing because without the plastic "shoe lace" ends, I still would have had to do the same.

It was tempting to try some sort of substitute cord on the Marimba but the extra cost for the "official" Adams cord was well worth it. The size was perfect, it came with replacement springs, the plastic doo-dads on the ends made threading the cord a snap. It just doesn't make sense to have a nice instrument and then go cheapo on the cord. This Marimba is in a school and good cord strung correctly means that there will be fewer down days for the students. Lost practice or rehearsal time is very hard to replace these days in the busy schedules of school bands!
Go with the good cord. It gives a better result and makes life easier all around.
