Description
Why was written to attempt to express the questions in life in 5 to 10 minutes. the piece can be played once or as long as the group feels is necessary. the goal was to be as thoughtful as possible with the least amount of notes for the soloist. this gives the performer an opportunity to express themselves as honestly as possible in each note.
The prepared stand parts were written to represent the endless chatter we have in our heads when we are making an attempt to think about one thought. there is no specified tempo for the prepared player or players. you can use as many stand players as you like, playing at any tempo from 30-144. the marimba and stand parts are never lined up.
The piece ends when the marimba player plays the last cymbal or metal sound. i hope you enjoy the journey of why
