DeLio-Against the Silence...(S) OS

Against the Silence... by Thomas DeLio is a composition in two movements, the structures of which were derived from the sonic attributes of attack and decay. The design of the composition integrates manifold amplifications of these attributes. Throughout the composition time and timbre are structured from certain proportional series which come in and out of focus at various moments. Silence plays a crucial role in both the structural and expressive designs of the piece. Throughout, sound arises from and decays into silence which ultimately overwhelms it - hence the title, borrowed from the work of the great American poet, Paul Blackburn.
