Their should be a more gradual transition from book 1. It begins at a level too advanced for my students that have completed book 1.
Description
Alfred's Drumset Method Book 2 by Dave Black and Mark Powers. Book 2 continues the learning process by expanding the rock and jazz vocabularies started in Book 1. It also introduces accents and ghost notes, the linear style, Latin styles, ¾ time, the shuffle, 12/8 time, and brushes. Online access to backing tracks and corresponding drum charts is available for both books.

Dave Black and Marke Powers have produced another excellent method for drum set, and it is a great next book after the beginning method, which I use with all my students. Steve Fidyk is a great surprise on the recordings with his playing. a few oddities: The Jazz Play along is all brushes, yet it precedes the brush section of the book. Also, like the Beginning Drunset Method, the book ends with excerices, instead of a chart. I would also like,to see so,e suggested listening, like Tom Morgan and Keith Copeland have in their books.
