Description

Slym Honey was originally conceived as an independent college project by composer Andrew Stawick. While the intention was for Slym Honey to be a part of a larger work, the composer chose instead to allow this piece, with its multiple facets, to stand on its own. The work opens in a moderate 7/8 time, while throwing in sections of 3/8 or 4/8 to mix things up. After a slower, more melodic middle section, the piece returns to its previous ferocity featuring the non-pitched percussion instruments, this time in 4/4, which builds to a spectacular close.

The "Percussion" parts are broken into 3 groups: Percussion 1 requires 4 players (1 Snare, 1 Bass, 2 Cymbals). One cymbal player should cover the suspended cymbal and hi-hat parts while the other plays strictly the crash cymbal parts. Percussion 2 and 3 each requires 2 players.
