Too thick

Wanted to help save the head, but this pad is way too thick and severely alters the sound of the drum.
Description
The Aquarian KP1 and DKP2 impact pads are made from a heavier version of Aquarian's Power Dot™ material. Each pad is strong yet flexible so that it can move with the head. They help extend the life of the bass drumhead while helping to produce a punchy, focused sound. They are available in a single pedal or double pedal version.

I bought this little adhesive circle because I figured it would save my drum head from wearing out in one spot. And I suppose it does.... but it makes the bass drum thud sound like I'm hitting plastic. Really not what I wanted at all. You'd think that Aquarian would engineer it to sound better....
