Description

The first Sonata from Bach´s famous "Sonatas and Partitas" for violin solo, arranged for solo Marimba by Peter Klemke.
The "Sonatas and Partitas" for Solo Violin (BWV 1001-1006) consist of six works which Bach composed in 1720 in Köthen. The original title to these works was "Sei solo - a violino senza Basso accompagnato".

The Sonata consists of four movements:

1. Adagio
2. Fuga (Allegro)
3. Siciliano
4. Presto

Peter Klemke has adapted and arranged this famous Sonata for solo Marimba.
Klemke´s admiration for the great Bach shines through this adaption.

It's an okay book. It's basically the same as the violin version except there are numbers for each sticking. My only complaint about the book is that some of the numbers aren't logical. For example, the book has some notes where it recommends you to use the 4th and 2nd mallets for straight 16th notes that can easily be done with the 2nd and 3rd mallets. This book shouldn't be priced at $20. Just by the original violin copy, the sticking's are pretty self explanatory.
