Description

Backpacker by Michael Aukofer is a rondo for multi-percussion solo. The title came about through the minimal and small instrumentation required. This setup can be transported in a backpack and a few hands - one everything rack mounted on a cymbal stand can hold all of the instruments required for this work.

This piece was commissioned and inspired by Dr. Brad Meyer. Duration: 4'35"

This a very off-the-wall percussion solo. Be prepared!! This piece is written for TONS of percussion instruments such as cowbell, wood block, splash cymbal, ride cymbal, frame drum, headed tambourine, foot tambourine, and a "popcorn" snare drum. All of the various rhythmic ideas mixed with such a combination of instruments makes this solo tasteful, fun to play, and enjoyable to listen to. Be prepared to have a blast learning this unique work!!!
