Description
Batterie Diabolique by Jon Metzger for percussion ensemble. Instrument choice for this piece is indeterminate and there is room for improvisation. One possible choice includes using brake drums for the dry metal sounds (anvils would also suffice), tom-toms with snare sticks for the drum sounds, and cymbals with snare sticks for the ringing metal sounds. The high, medium, and low hand drum parts also use hand drums of your choice and the articulation of each part is at your discretion. The mallet parts will be fine on marimbas and bells; yet, if possible, Mallet 1 will be especially effective on crotales at letter E and on kalimba at letter J. Written for 3-5 players.
