Bobo-Lost Dances-M

When I first began performing internationally, I had the pleasure of my wife Emily joining me on each of the various trips that I took. Together, we explored numerous countries and developed many lasting memories. When our first child was born in 2010, I began making many of these trips alone. In many ways, Lost Dances is an attempt to bring some of the music of these places home to Emily. Throughout the 15-minute work, there are elements of various traditional dance styles and musical characteristics from the countries that I visited. The piece explores a wide dynamic and stylistic range, placing high musical and technical demands on the performer.
