Bobo-Migraine Sketches (SP)-V/2M/1T/P

Migraine Sketches by Kevin Bobo is a percussion quartet that was commissioned by Dr. Adam Blackstock and The Troy University Percussion Ensemble. This piece seeks to travel deep into the mind of one who suffers from migraines. While on the journey, the listener will pass through various clusters of thoughts and memories in an effort to seek out the source of pain, only to find that it is sometimes the simplest thing that can be the cause of such unusually painful events.

Instrumentation:

Player 1 - marimba (4.3 octave), 2 medium toms, tam-tam.

Player 2 - marimba (shared w/ perc. 1), vibraphone, 2 bongos, flexatone, violin bow.

Player 3 - marimba (shared w/ perc. 4), 2 opera gongs, splash cymbal, 29" timpani, suspended cymbal (for timpani), 3 large toms.

Player 4 - marimba (5 octave), 2 woodblocks.
