By Departing Light by Bruce Mahin for percussion ensemble and piano. During this piece, each player at one point recites the following poem:
Horizons seem most bright
much clearer than the quays
for as a soul takes flight,
then vanishes from sight
we rush to count the days
it was near
Instrumentation:
Player 1 - marimba, vibraphone, 4 toms
Player 2 - marimba, vibraphone, glockenspiel
Player 3 - marimba, glockenspiel, tam tam
Player 4 - timpani, crotales (2 octaves)
Player 5 - xylophone, temple blocks, chimes, snare
Player 6 - 4 toms, cymbals
Player 7 - piano and radio
