Bizet-Carmen Suite No. 1 arr. Weatherson (SP)-X/V/2M

Carmen Suite No. 1 by Georges Bizet arranged for percussion quartet by Scott Weatherson. The melodies from Carmen are some of the most well known in the world. The Suite No. 1 from the opera (compiled after the composer's death by Ernest Guiraud) contains many of these instantly recognizable tunes. In this arrangement for xylophone, vibraphone, 4.3-octave marimba, and 5-octave marimba, the colors of the orchestra translate perfectly to keyboard percussion with the timbres of each instrument well suited to the exotic flavors of the opera. The vibraphone and marimba parts each require three and four mallet technique in various movements.
