Description
Ollin by Tizoc Ceballos won 2nd place in the 2009 Ironworks Percussion Duo Composition Contest. Ollin (Oh-leen) is the Nahuatl word for movement. According to the composer, this piece represents the "movement" of time and space towards an inevitable end. It was inspired by the vibrant and mesmerizing rhythms found in Aztec drumming. Ollin is intended to be played with a very dramatic "tyco-like" flair.
