As a gong bath practitioner, I have found Traditional gong mallets can cause a gong to produce some overly harsh sounds. I have used a Paiste 32" symphonic for years using a Paiste mallet. I purchased a Chalkin mallet last year to give them a try. I was greatly impressed with the tones it brought out. I recently bought a Paiste 24" Venus gong. With a regular Paiste mallet, I had to be very focused on not letting it ring the high tones when I didn't want them. This Esoteric mallet is INCREDIBLE!!! The richness I pull out of the Venus is pure and balanced. I purchased the #2 even though it's for a 26-28" gong so I could also use it on my 32". This mallet has me sold! You are able to bring up powerful tones without big volume, which works fantastic with smaller rooms. I will be buying more. Great price, great mallet! BTW Chalkin manufactures Paiste mallets.
