Sindichakis-Chromata-M

Chromata by Eva Sindichakis is a four mallet solo scored for 4.5-octave marimba.

From the composer, "Chromata – colors, was my first thought while contemplating the works of the painter Fridhelm Klein. Colors, completely embedded into the landscape of Crete, the infinite horizon, the light, the earth, the sea. The work of Fridhelm Klein touched in me the memory of the ideal landscape of Greece, which is recovered deeply in my soul since my childhood.

Memories of my "homeland", the colors of a day that are changing and which are reflected in the vastness of the Greek sea, are also the inspiration for my composition work "Chromata".

The four parts of the composition relate to the sea, the fire, the earth, and the light. A motif of a Greek folk song, "My Little Sea" appears throughout the entire composition and gets transformed. The sea comes from nowhere and ends in light. In between are the fire and the earth. The seas is a mirror of the atmosphere – the metamorphosis of the colors of the solar fire, the earth and the light."
