Description
Circuit Breaker by Gene Koshinski for percussion sextet. This piece functions as a concertino for percussion duo with percussion quartet accompaniment. While there is no set program, the inspiration behind the music came from various images of robots dancing.
Instrumentation:
Soloist Part 1 - 6", 8", 10", 12", 14" toms, 16" thin crash, vibraphone
Soloist Part 2 - 5 junk metals, 5-octave marimba
Percussion 1 - junk metal, large pair of Chinese crash cymbals, party horn, glockenspiel, F# and A chime
Percussion 2 - tam tam, guiro, suspended cymbal, flexitone, xylophone, E chime
Percussion 3 - bass drum, large rute (played on rim of bass drum), hi-hat, large train whistle, D# chime
Percussion 4 - 8" splash cymbal, vibraslap, timpani, chimes
