Coley-Contemplation (SP)-4T/P

Contemplation by Matthew Coley for percussion octet. This piece was originally written as a dance and percussion collaboration. As a teacher at various schools throughout Chicago, Coley was inspired to write interesting and contemplative music that could be performed in most music school situations. This piece is dedicated to the Iowa State University Percussion Ensemble.

Percussion 1 - Bass Drum
Percussion 2 - Mounted Tambourine, Three Tom-Toms or Congas
Percussion 3 - Splash Cymbal, Three Graduated Snare Drums
Percussion 4 - Four Graduated Cowbells
Percussion 5 - Four Graduated Woodblocks ("Granite Blocks")
Percussion 6 - Five Graduated and Found Metal Objects (ie. Brake Drum, Pipes, Gas Cans, etc)
Percussion 7 - Hi-Hat, High and Low Suspended Cymbal, Tam-tam
