This book is just as valuable as Stick Control and Syncopation. I inherited a copy from an old teacher, a 1982 edition. I use the ideas in my teaching all the time. Every couple of years i look for it online, so glad it is in print here.
While the title has "samba" in it, this book is more than useful just samba's. Utilizing the 26 routines makes many of these rhythms a non-traditional type of Samba. This book is good for several things: 1) Learning some Samba's 2) Greatly improving independence 3) Improve the left hand 4) Alter grooves by adding in tom's Highly recommend. A good book to choose a rhythm or 2 each week and work it thru the various systems.
