These mallets do exactly what they are intended to do, play really articulate passages on the high end of the marimba. I used these mallets for the marimba licks in Harbison's "Three City Blocks". I have often found a large problem with the use of marimba in wind ensembles is the inability to hear the instrument. Without hard enough mallets the marimba will just never be heard through the ensemble during loud sections. These mallets fix this problem by essentially being xylophone mallets you can safely use on the marimba. These mallets are insanely hard. I would do your best to avoid ever touching the lower half of the instrument with these. You can easily use these mallets on a xylophone and it will sound like you are using xylophone mallets. When used for their intended purpose these mallets will not disappoint.
