Dutta-Tabla Techniques (VHS)

Aloke Dutta, well-known performer and educator, demonstrates many important techniques of tabla playing. Some of the techniques revealed were once only transmitted to relatives in a musician's family. Using these techniques, he shows how to compose different grooves, such as five, six, seven eight and nine. In order to help students produce the sounds properly, he demonstrates various tabla syllable, including flams, at the end of the tape.
