Rice-Entangled States (SP)-Solo M & P/V/M/4-5T/P

Entangled States by Dwayne Rice for percussion soloist and percussion trio. This concertino uses concepts of quantum entanglement, the materials of music, and various percussion instruments to create a study in the nature of interaction. Each percussionist has instruments of a single family (mtal, wood, or membrane), while the soloist has a mix of them all, and then some.

Instrumentation:

Soloist - kick bass drum, 4 graduated metals, 4 graduated drums, 4 graduated clay pots, 4 graduated woods, splash cymbal, China cymbal, 5-octave marimba

Player 1 - 4 graduated metals, vibraphone

Player 2 - 4 graduated woods, 4.5-octave marimba

Player 3 - 4 graduated drums, 4-5 timpani
