Description

Equatorial Zephyrus for multi-percussion solo by Norio Fukushi was commissioned by Shiniti Ueno and recieved its world premiere December 9, 2005 at Oizumigakuen Yumeria Hall (Tokyo).

"Zephyrus" is a kind of butterfly whose wings are beautifully colore in azure or violet. "Zephyrus" is named after "Zephyros" ; the god of west wind in Greek mythology, because it emerges in the season of west wind. They are distributed over Japan and Europe etc. However, in writing this piece, the composer imagined what kind of sound they made if they flew to the equator flapping their graceful wings.
