Description
Etude Hommage II by Eckhard Kopetzki is a four mallet solo scored for 4.3 octave marimba. This piece is featured on the CD, "Marimba Spiritual" with Katarzyna Mycka.
"The opening theme of this piece is based on the second mode of Olivier Messiaen's 'Vingt Regards sur I'Enfant Jesus' which was my inspiration in this composition. The various sections of the piece, different in their use of superimposed melodies and complex rhythms, build gradually together as if to a climax, and then come to an abrupt, unexpected end." - Kopetzki
