If you're after a tom sound that sits cleanly in a mix without a lot of work at the board, the Evans HD Dry is worth a close look. Short sustain, semi-defined attack, a little less brightness than a standard HD head. How It's Built

Evans constructs the HD Dry with a 5mil coated outer ply over a heavier 7.5mil inner ply, which gives the head its durability and punchy response without feeling overly stiff under the stick. A 2mil control ring sits on the underside of the head, and precision-drilled dry vents run around the perimeter to actively reduce stray overtones rather than just dampening them after the fact. The coating adds surface texture for improved feel and extends the life of the head. All Evans drumheads are designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA, and the HD Dry pack includes Level 360 Technology for consistent collar depth that makes seating and tuning noticeably easier across all three sizes.
