Description
EvenStar (Version 3) by Nathan Daughtrey is a trio for mezzo soprano, cello, and keyboard percussion (or piano). This piece was inspired from Edgar Allan Poe's poem, "Evening Star." Originally composed as a lullaby for euphonium, tuba, and keyboard percussion, Daughtrey approached the piece as if he was writing for human voice. The original melodies found throughout the original euphonium and tuba parts align perfectly with the words for Poe's poem.
DurationL 6'30"
Percussion Requirements: Two octaves of crotales, vibraphone, 5-octave marimba.
*To decrease the difficulty level, two individual percussion parts (Vibraphone and Crotales/Marimba) are also included, thus turning the piece into a quartet. Bells may be substituted for the Crotales in this version.
This work is available in two other versions:
Version 1 - euphonium, tuba, and keyboard percussion
Version 2 - euphonium, tuba, and piano
