Description
Festive Celebration by Yiu-kwong Chung is a percussion ensemble piece written for 9 players. This pis consists of four distinctive continuous sections. The first is a solemn introduction. The second is a ritual music with accumulation of layers and instruments. Its tempo is slow and harmonic vocabulary is pentatonic. The third is a vigorous dance in 7/8. The fourth is a cadenza for the percussion section based upon traditional Chinese drumming rhythmic patterns.

Player II: Glockenspiel, Snare Drum, Chinese Bass Drum, Slit Drum
Player III: Chimes, 4 Tom-Toms, Small Claves, Small Chinese Hand Gong
Player IV: Vibraphone, 3 Congas, Woodblock
Player V: 4 Timpani, 4 Thai Gongs, Claves, Large Temple Cup Gong
Player VI: Xylophone, 3 Suspended Cymbals, 2 Maracas, Triangle, Small Temple Cup Gong
Player VII: Concert Bass Drum, 2 Small Temple Blocks, Small Chinese Barrel Drum, Large Tam-Tam, Large Thai Gong
Player VIII: Marimba, Large Wooden Clappers
Player IX: Marimba, Large Chinese Opera Hand Gong
