I threw this in so I would effectively get free shipping due to being part of a larger order, this reducing the risk on an instrument that doesn't have audio samples or reviews. Like other instruments from this manufacturer, I have been surprised by the craftsmanship for the price point or even if it cost more, and the pitch is more in the mid range than I expected so it blends very well. Also easy to play without getting things tangled.

This was just one of those low-cost low-risk purchases to fill out an order, but it ended up being better than my other shakers as it is constructed well and can present a complex evolving sound pattern due to the asymmetry of the attached nut shells. I've had good luck overall with these Jamtown-branded percussion items. Nut shakers work just as well for momentary strikes as for ambient background fill and patterns. They are probably the most flexible type of shaker all-around, and can stand in for several other shakers and shekeres (you can rub them, roll them, strike them, shake them, etc.).
