Description
This piece was planned in 1977 for a piano recital by Akemi Sato; however, a vibraphone was added because of the following expression; "bursting in a cold, harsh, dry, shining manner, irregular within a narrow interval".
To hold eight notes per second incessantly with an instrument confronting the piano, is a musical idea in view of using percussion instruments; in other words, the piano- without a percussion instrument with a metal key- seem to come closer to the vibraphone for the same reason. I was very interested in the attempt to confront diverse instruments on certain conditions- which also was the case in "Riscontro" composed in 1990.
